Most people have got a decent camera on their phone. You can get props and backdrops. You set up your shoot, only to discover you’re at the mercy of natural light in the UK – which as we all know, is normally an overcast drizzle. Not ideal. You can buy cheap lights, but often they’re not powerful enough.
And it’s lighting that tends to make or break the shot.
Incredible solo makers and new businesses want to sell their amazing products online, only to realise that they’re going to have to up their photography game to show off their awesomeness.
I knew I needed an online presence, so I learned to take well-lit, scroll-stopping product photography. I’m like that. But it’s a personal investment you might not want to make when you already have a million other things to do.
So I’ve now got a collection of props, fancy vinyl backdrops, several strobes (powerful flashes), modifiers, training in off-camera lighting…which means I can offer a remote UK product photography service that showcases your product, puts it in context, and helps potential customers see how it might fit into their life. Win-win!
White background cut-out product shots
A client might just want packshot images on a white background, while another will want lifestyle shots that align with their brand to use on their own website or social channels.
The former is a super-popular way to display products on e-commerce sites and marketplaces like Amazon or Etsy. This is typically just product-only imagery, with the product staged against seamless paper, creating a perfect white background.
I’m currently based on the South Coast around Hampshire and Dorset. Products can be sent by Royal Mail or courier. You can arrange to have the products picked up by courier if you wish. I shoot, edit, and deliver the images digitally.
Lifestyle product photography Hampshire & Dorset
In addition to high-quality, functional product photography, I can also offer simple shots, well-lit against a neutral backdrop with minimal props, including the ever-popular flat lay style.
On the other hand, lifestyle product photography is an opportunity for the client to develop their brand identity.
Lifestyle shots tend to show the product in use, or in an aspirational setting. It can include close-up detail shots (taken with my macro lens) that capture those unique elements or features that the client wants to focus on.
A lifestyle product shoot involves photographing your product within a curated, styled scene, sometimes featuring models, to introduce customers to the brand’s aesthetic.
Again – send, shoot, deliver!
Location shoots for home & lifestyle brands, going behind the scenes!
Getting out of the studio opens up more room for creativity. Shooting on location can be a great way of capturing the story behind the brand or business.
I may be able to travel to you to take behind-the-scenes photos that feature your identity and process. I can work across the Isle of Wight, Dorset and Hampshire. For more information about my product photography services or for a bespoke quotation, please do get in touch.
I can provide basic digital editing as standard with all my bespoke product photography options. This involves a digital clean-up (getting rid of any distracting marks or reflections), colour adjustment and white balance. The images are then delivered digitally ready-for-use as jpegs.
