Solo makers and new brands want to sell their products online, only to realise that they’re going to have to up their photography game.
Most people have got a decent camera on their phone. You set up your shoot, only to discover you’re at the mercy of natural light in the UK. You can buy cheap lights, but often they’re not powerful enough.
Luckily, I offer a remote UK product photography service that showcases your product, puts it in context, and helps potential customers see how it might fit into their life.
How does remote product photography work?
I’m currently based on the South Coast, with my closest cities being Portsmouth and Southampton. Products can be sent by Royal Mail or courier. You simply box them up securely, and send. I’ll let you know as soon as the package arrives. I shoot, edit, and deliver the images digitally. You can arrange to have the products picked up by courier if you wish. If not, I will assume disposal of the goods after ten days.

White background
A client might just want packshot images on a white background, which is a popular way to display products on e-commerce sites and marketplaces like Amazon or Etsy. This is typically just product-only imagery, with the product staged against seamless paper, creating a perfect white background.
Sometimes the product will look better with a reflection or shadow, which just takes a little more time to create using Photoshop
Lifestyle product photography
Lifestyle shots show the product in use, or in an aspirational setting. It can include the ever-popular flat lay style, or close-up detail shots (taken with a macro lens) that capture those unique elements or features that the client wants to focus on.
A lifestyle product shoot involves photographing your product within a curated, styled scene, sometimes featuring models, to develop your brand’s identity and introduce customers to the brand’s aesthetic. Which might be dark and moody…

Prices
It’s difficult to quote a price without knowing the number of images needed, and whether a shoot needs more styling or editing, but as a guide remote product photography is £100 for half a day. In that time I would be able to shoot between 4 and 20 images, depending on the complexity of the sets, props and styling required. For a full day, the price is £190. I would aim to shoot up to 35 images.
When you make initial contact if you give as much information as possible, including what the products you need photographing are, how many products need shooting, and how many shots/angles of each product you need.
